On Sunday April 5, 2020 the GFC of the ARS met on Zoom and Youtube to discuss the basics of Historic Articulation Patterns. The video is linked.
In the presentation we also heard from Ed Bilanchone, Kelly's Alexander Technique teacher, regarding his new online offerings as a follow up to our March 1st meeting on the basics of the Alexander Technique.
Ed's online courses are as follows:
1. Introduction/Review of Alexander's Principles: Awareness, Inhibition and Direction. The class will be held in three one hour segments. Good for beginners and no matter how many times I've heard reviews, I always learn something new.
2. Movements of the head and neck: Learn ways to deeply release tension in the neck and find unexpected ease while moving the head. (This is new material for everyone) one hour
3. Happy Feet: Simple movements, yet profound discoveries possible. Learn to link feet to head. Walk and run better.(Few have had this material) one hour
4. Sitting at the computer: Even if you have a work station that changes levels, chances are everyone is sitting more these days. one hour
5. Use of the arms and hands at the computer: Follow on to previous session. one hour
6. Constructive Rest: Perhaps the most important way to learn practical self care. Everyone ought to learn this skill. one hour 7. Use of the eyes/Reading: eye strain can be a serious problem. New strategies for change. Introduction/review of Alexander Technique Principles required. one hour This a partial list, more classes will be posted in the weeks ahead.
