There are wonderful resources online that cover all types of recorder maintenance. Most of the time brushing teeth/not playing after eating, simple swabbing after playing, and proper storage when not playing the instrument will be sufficient to keep the instrument in good form. This service takes care of most low and mid-range commercial recorders. Custom and high-end recorders should be sent back to their makers, if possible.
