Recorder music of Gottfried Finger

Today, I encourage you to look at the music of Gottfried Finger (1655-1730). Finger was a virtuoso viol player and friend of the recorder. He was born in what is now the Czech Republic and found his way to England. He briefly worked in the court of James II before becoming a freelance composer. Many of his pieces for recorder can be found on imslp. Check out the link here for access to his Sonata in G for soprano recorder. Click on the tab marked "Arrangements and transcriptions" and you will find a transposed version for alto recorder.
